Reflexology for menopause

Effects of menopause on the female body

The menopause is a natural process and journey we all come through.

Menopause is the cessation of menstruation, we are classed as moving from perimenopause to menopause after having no periods for 12 consecutive months, the average age being 51.

Perimenopause usually starts between ages 40 to 50. Our hormone balance starts to shift in our mid 30s when the hormones oestrogen and progesterone begin to decline, these changes are the cause of our symptoms. Symptoms can be diverse and varied and unique to us all; they can also be uncomfortable and extremely debilitating.

During a reflexology for menopause session (RfM) we work to restore balance to the endocrine glands function and look at how to support holistically with nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress.  Studies have shown that elevated levels of cortisol, a stress hormone increase the likelihood of more severe menopause symptoms. By taking steps to lower stress levels we can have a profound impact on our symptoms.

It’s important to prioritise self-care and lifestyle to maintain healthy ageing.
